The last month has been a wonderful whirl of travel, family, celebrations and creating!!
My “Studio” has been busy!
I visited all my little grands over the weeks … my three older littles having birthdays! Zee Zee needed to create a few things!
I love having something to give them when I arrive, right out of the suitcase. They are usually excited about our coming. It gives them a fun surprise, right away. Plus, I think it shows forethought. I was excited about coming too!!!
Earlier in the summer I gave them “Garden Playdoh Kits,” out of the suitcase.

For the August visit, I made “Find It” tubes for all of them! They seem to like the Find It books. From decades passed, I recalled the store bought “Find It” tubes being fun for many ages. I looked up the retail ones on Amazon and nearly passed out at the price … $30!! How in the world did they get so pricey?

I made them instead. I’m sure the purchased ones are bigger, but when buying multiples, I can’t justify the price. Besides, this was their out-of-the-suitcase-upon-arrival-gift, not their birthday gifts.
If you have any interest, Here is the link for the tubes… (click for link)
I used rice and colored sprinkles for the interior. Some items came from my craft stash, others I found at the Dollar Tree. The Barbie accessories were just the right size. Also, I found Croc shoe charms at the Dollar Tree.
Another avalanche of creativity tumbled out for our first granddaughter’s 3rd birthday.
My daughter-in-law asked me to help with Goldie’s birthday celebration. She asked me to make three things. Once again, my Studio bustled.
A unicorn party!! How fun!! I had so much fun creating and even challenging myself. I never made these before, but enjoyed the journey to completion.
First … A Cake Topper!
I sent a few options, knowing I’d be putting my Cricut Joy to work. My DIL selected this one! It looked complicated, but I tried!

Bingo, I loved the outcome!! Turns out it was easier than I thought!
Second … a Banner! “Goldie’s 3”!
Again, I used my Cricut, scrapbook paper, glue, ribbon and some embellishments.

Third … a Unicorn Shirt!
Mom picked the design and “Zee Zee” produced it! I’d never done a multiple color iron on before… Nailed it! Of course, our little unicorn angel looked adorable wearing it with a handmade tutu by her Aunt Bear!

Fourth … Unicorn Horses!
I found these and asked if I could make them for the party. There are many versions on Pinterest. Like always, I blended the parts I liked from many types. I purchased the pool noodles in KY when I was there in June. I prepared the materials and took an extra suitcase this trip and assembled them while Goldie was at school when we got to KY. Secret birthday sleuth😉 This is how they ended up!

They were a hit; very budget friendly! My son set up a steeplechase in the yard. Ages 2-15 participated! They were timed with three different age group winners. It was so fun to watch. The kids took it seriously and had a great time.
The ultimate compliment was Goldie discovering them the morning of the party and hugging her chosen “green one”! Green is her self-proclaimed favorite color! I thought she would pick that one!! Of course, I gave it a rainbow horn!

The day after the party, we attended their neighborhood Sunday gathering. One 6 yr old boy brought his horse with him … heart melt!
By the way, we did not make one per child. Their friend group is large, with tons of children. We made ten. They shared them during the party and steeplechase. Families took one home to disperse them at the end of the party.
Our family vacation is coming up the middle of September. I’ve got a theme brewing with some projects ahead. Only two of my little grands will be there, but Zee Zee still wants to make it special. It will be my youngest grand’s “first family vacay”!!!
After that, Christmas creations. Maybe a few fall😉
What’s your latest project? Even if it’s not a craft, tell us or show us!
PS – I love my Cricut Joy. (I am not sponsored.) It offers a world of fun things to do!
Zee Zee’s having fun,
