Straight up … I’m going to be a little sporadic meeting you here the next few weeks😬
The big move is coming in a short few weeks and I am putting the pedal to the medal! We’ve jumped through a lot of hoops to get to the settlement table; only one left. But, life has been a busy bustle to produce this move and my mind is constantly distracted!
Boxes have barraged our living space: every nook and corner with more to come!
I wanted to stop and share with you some thoughts about this Holy Week! I just couldn’t let it pass!
Our church has interrupted it’s normal sermon series to spend 6 weeks on the resurrection.
I have been in church my whole life and being a pastor’s wife means I’ve been to just about every extra service the church held. Which obviously leads to a vast amount of biblical and extra-biblical information ingested. This is not always a plus. I won’t elaborate now, but believe me, the sheer volumes can distract your processing of the info.
Over a week ago, our lead elder, Phillip, spoke on an aspect of the resurrection. He read a quote by someone. I didn’t write the name down. But, I DID WRITE THE QUOTE DOWN! This does not happen for me every Sunday, I assure you that!
This quote has stuck in my brain, heart and spirit! I’ve already shared it several times with family and friends. It has really made me think and ponder over the week. I have processed it several ways with new meanings. I can’t escape it!
Given this week is when we celebrate Easter: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, I just had to pass it along for you to ponder too!
“While Grave Yards remind us of the brevity of life …
The Resurrection ensures and shows us the brevity of death!”
Unknown
From Friday, Jesus death til Sunday, Jesus resurrection is a visual of the span of death!!
If you believe the Bible, Jesus’ resurrection defeats death. Death does not win. Life does! Death is a short blip compared to life resurrected/eternal which God promises to those who love him!
“Death is a footnote in the resurrection story … it is no longer the main character!!”
– Pastor Phillip
The RESURRECTION is the main character!
Death is also a footnote in our story!
It is NOT the main character, not the end!
To be honest, two deaths have entered my sphere this last week: one very sad, a subscriber here and longtime encourager and another tragic!! The worst you can imagine, devastating, a child!!!
This quote and our Pastor’s words brought lots of hope and reflection for me. As does the whole recounting of Holy Week.
Graveyards are incredibly sad and a vivid shocking reminder of our human end and the brevity of life.
But, the Ressurection is proof of death’s brevity. It doesn’t last long! Before you know it, three days later, grief is turned to joy. Sorrow is erased and replaced with dancing rejoicing feet!
Life Wins!
These words do not take the sting out of death: hurt, sorrow, grief, sadness, tragedy or broken hearts. But they can offer us miraculous hope beyond the grave! In the span of eternity, it is brief and rejoicing is on the way!
Maybe this Easter, our rejoicing can resonate in the fact that our death too will be short, brief, with resurrection and life around the corner.

Thank you, Jesus!
