Moving Update …

We jumped through all the hoops and over a few hurdles, making it past the finish line of selling our lake house! We are no longer Lake residents and I doubt we ever will be again, except on an occasional vacation. A beautifully peaceful place, soothing aching eyes and hearts, was what it was. It’s a delightful chapter in our earthly journey!! For an appointed time, this gift befell us, and I am very grateful for it.

I hope in hindsight I can process and verbalize all the ways the past four years have affected me! The lake found deep places in me to minister by its shiny sparkling sky reflecting waters and it’s calm still mornings; Refreshing floats and time spent with loved ones.

We will never forget our neighbors who instantly became friends. Their kindness went beyond mere friendliness. They surpassed those things. They were engaging!! We hold them close to our hearts and hopefully will cross paths again. By the way, I’m not meaning the house on either side of ours. I mean seven plus houses down and across the inlet and beyond.

On a Thursday night, a swarm of cars lined the street and our beloved friends emptied our house into moving pods. One neighbor noted it looked like a human beehive of activity! It did! The sweetest, kindest friends, church family, neighbors and some very helpful teens moved, stacked, secured and Tetrised those containers! Whew, it was a lot!! They so cheerfully and lovingly attended to all the details!

Jim and I were nearing exhaustion: it felt like angels swooped down from heaven to care for us! In reality, they did! 🥰

The next four days were busy with finishing all the house things. Each day, Jim had someone come over to assist him: neighbors and grandsons.

Monday evening, we shut the door with a gigantic sigh as we said goodbye and hobbled to a neighbor’s house to flop our well-worn bodies into bed. We spent four nights at our neighbor’s house so we could pack our belongings and sleep comfortably. There are so many neighbor stories!

Tuesday at Noon we walked into settlement closing our Lake House Adventure.

We succeeded! Intact (mostly), we crossed the finish line. The wear has left us weary; the task is complete. By now, another couple has begun their Lake House chapter! We hope it affords them the peace and joy it did us!

We are currently staying with our daughter and family. We are house hunting. It’s a crazy real estate market here. Many homes are under contract within 24 hrs of hitting the market and “bidding wars” are a thing again in this region. Even our Real Estate agent said, “This market is crazy and very unpredictable!”

We are going to have to be patient because unicorns are hard to find😉 (If you know what I mean.) Apparently, Unicorn hunting is popular here. Who knew? We have stiff competition right now.

I just wanted to hop on today and give you a status update.

We are alive and well! Moving didn’t kill us, but it tried!!

Hope you are well!

Have you survived a hurdle this week??

Clearing hurdles is no joke!!
