If you did not read last week’s post, you will want to before reading this one …. Click below…
Last Week, I introduced Mr. Ghost, leaving the story with 24 hrs of silence after a brief sighting!
Today, I can finish the story because I have completed this short tale. The end was not as I expected; sweeter than I imagined.
So, last Tuesday afternoon, when I had to complete my post and format it to reach you on Wednesday, there had been over 24 hours of silence from Mr. Ghost.
I thought that may be the end of any correspondence.
I started again searching many websites for another buffet option for my new kitchen!
Then out of the blue, about 7:30 pm, about 30 hours since our last conversation, he messaged me …
Mr. Ghost: Would Wednesday Evening work for you? (Meaning to deliver)
Me: It would not, unfortunately. Thursday Or Saturday would work.
Mr. Ghost: Ok, we can do Thursday. Are you available in the morning?
Me: Yes! Could you give me an approximate time?
End of conversation…
16 hours later …
Mr. Ghost: We could aim for 8 am. (Which is now the day before said delivery .)
Me: I guess you need my address?
Mr. Ghost: Before the end of the day, for sure.
Me: Sent my address
That night, 11:07 PM… I was on my way to bed … a notification opened on my phone …
Mr. Ghost: Hey could you do 6-8 pm? I have to pick up family at the airport tomorrow morning.
Me: Yes! That will work!
Mr. Ghost: Perfect, thank you being so flexible on such short notice.
Because no money was involved until deliver and confirmation that it matched the photo, I felt comfortable playing this out! Also, my husband would be home!
I still wondered if the piece I admired on the internet would show up in my kitchen, given the fragmented communication. It is the oddest way I have ever purchased furniture.
Thursday afternoon at 4:15 PM, this message came through …
Mr. Delivery Man: I should be there in about 2 hours.
Me: 👍🏻
At about 5:45 PM, Mr. delivery man and the buffet for my kitchen were at the end of my driveway!!
Mr. Delivery Man is not Mr. Ghost. Two separate individuals.
The buffet was wrapped very well and anchored down in the truck. His truck was full of furniture: he had more deliveries still to be made that evening. I went out to the truck, and the piece looked exactly like the picture on Marketplace and their website!!
He and my husband carried it into the house. We looked for any flaws but couldn’t find any. He would have gotten it into the house by himself but accepted my husband’s help.
I have to say … He was the NICEST GUY!! Really NICE!!
We mentioned our odd communication to Mr. Delivery and how it made us wonder if the listing was real. He explained a lot …
He said, we are a small business and have used FB Marketplace to sell, but it is getting so frustrating, we are trying to push sales to our website and eventually want to get off of Marketplace. (Their website is very nice.)
Here’s the rub … poor Mr. Ghost is trying to work and answer over 700 Fb messages a day. SEVEN HUNDRED!!
And guess what, he has the same problem I did … most of them are scammers!! So he doesn’t just have to wade through messages, he has to figure out which ones are really trying to purchase their merchandise!!!
Not only that, Mr. Ghost, is not just trying to refinish furniture, run a business and answer 700+ messages every day … sometimes, he delivers too!!
I have a whole new appreciation for Mr. Ghost!!!
I feel some of his pain with crazy scammers! It’s so discouraging!!
He’s trying to make a living and I am just a casual seller/consumer. I can’t imagine dealing with all that!! That has got to be rough!
Mr. Delivery man also told us … “If you have any problems, just give me a call (handing us his card), I will come fix it no charge!”
After delivery was done, I started filling the buffet right away. Kitchen things were waiting for a home and home had arrived!
It’s just about filled, but things could shift a little. I am not done styling it yet, but I have ideas!!
I absolutely love it; I want to say it again! My husband and daughter both gave their thumbs up! My daughter also noted how accurate the photos were, which we expected could have been altered by using filters-editing! But they didn’t! We got what we saw!!
Here she is now, making my kitchen closer to completion. I’ll show you when I get it styled and settled-in the way I envision!

As a child, I didn’t like cartoons. But, if I had to watch, my favorite was “Casper the Friendly Ghost!”
This experience reminded me that not all ghosts are scary … there are some friendly ones out there.
I’m thankful this ghost story turned out so friendly!!
