I Solved It!

I did it! I think!

I completed my kitchen puzzle!

Cue the applause track!👏👏👏👏👏

Thank You, thank you!

This final piece is not a piece most people use in their kitchen, I think.

Remember, I told you my kitchen has a large half-open window-wall?

Here is the best angle picture I could get …

Here are my earlier puzzle pieces in place…

Since this large open area in my kitchen was meant for a table, and I’m not going to put a table there, I had an idea.

I felt the need for a seat in this space: either to sit while waiting for the “pot to boil” or to have someone sit and visit with me while I cooked. The longer I’ve worked in this kitchen, the surer I was about it!

Yet, I did not want it to visually/physically overtake my tree and buffet.

So, I measured and measured and measured again.

That was the troublesome part. I had the choice of either a single chair/stool or a bench. I wanted this piece to fade into the space. I did not want a stand out! My buffet is that piece, and I want the buffet wall to be the focal point.

A bench without arms or a back was a must: if it had arms or a back, it would be too clunky or chunky.

This sounds like an easy piece to find.

Right?

It wasn’t!

Size was the issue! Most benches were too big for the space, so I was insistent on finding a size within my decided measurements.

I looked for weeks on Marketplace. I looked at several stores. And I finger shopped on every website I could think of.

All my searching yielded very few options, and none was perfect.

I decided I was at the point of closure and wanted to finish.

I took my three best options and deliberated!

Thinking for quite a while, I wanted a black piece, I decided against it. It matched my appliances and accents. It would not blend into the wall it sat against. Just the opposite, it would draw attention; exactly, what I didn’t want.

Leaving me with even fewer choices, one emerged I hadn’t focused on before.

The colors would blend, and the size was perfect! The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I called in my backup decorating assistant, and she concurred.

As usual, I dropped a picture of the bench into a picture of the kitchen to help make a final decision.

Bingo! I ordered it!!

It came, and here it is all assembled and in its home spot. I am thrilled with its size and sturdiness. I love the little pop of detail on the ends. The one thing I’m not over the moon about is the print on the fabric. Somehow, I did not pick that up on the website. I probably wouldn’t have added a boho fabric in the kitchen mix.

Here’s the thing: I am an eclectic person. The Aztec print is not my fav. But, what I do love is the texture and dimension it creates and the tone on tone print. So, I decided to overlook it and possibly someday recover it which would be super simple because the top comes right off!

Bonus: When my husband walked in, he said, “Oh that is really nice.” He loved the print! (Win, win) (Mind you, he didn’t even know I was thinking about anything on that wall!)

Bonus #2: When my 2 1/2 year old came over, she climbed right up on that seat like I meant it as her spot! Absolutely, I did! She proceeded to lay down on it and it was a perfect fit! Match made in heaven!

As far as I know, my kitchen is complete. I styled my counter for now. I tend to move things around and meddle with some seasonal decor.

Here’s where we are on the counter tops …

Have you had any pieces fall into place in your domain recently?

I’d love to hear all responses!

Onto Another Puzzle,
