I’ve never been a rote person. I suppose I’m a free spirit, but I realize some “experts” emphasize that schedules and routines are important. When I worked out of the home and was busy raising three children, scheduling and routines were vital. Yet one area of my life has yinged and yanged with days and seasons.
I do NOT get up every morning and do the exact rituals like the day before!
Everything gets done, but I flit about deciding on whims what happens when.
As a Christian, the idea of a quiet time alone with God has been hard-wired in me. For those of you who this concept is foreign, it is time (decided by you), given to reading scripture and prayer, aka talking to God, meditating on Him. Most Christian leaders emphasize first thing in the morning.
Here’s the thing … rote routine is not always meaningful for me. If I’m going to spend the time, I want it to mean something, in the moment, not just be a habit to perform.
So, I wax and wane on time periods, sometimes night is best for me, sometimes mid morning after my foggy head has cleared. If this bothers you, I’m just being honest. I don’t believe there is a “perfect” way to do it! It’s up to me and God to decide inside our own unique relationship.
Here’s the thing… I’ve used online tools for quite sometime. I do have devotional books as well. Like I told you, every day is different! I use book devotionals and online, the Bible in hand and online, etc.
It occurred to me one day as I was watching YouTube… “Are there any devotionals on YouTube?” Maybe you’ve found some, but my search came up nearly empty. Years went by and I found something in a spot I’d been a hundred times, but never paid attention. It may be old news to you, but…
I’m Passin’ It On…
It’s in the App YouVersion Bible. If you don’t have the app, it’s free and easy to download.

On the homepage of the App, there is always a scripture verse of the day and right beside it…. is a VIDEO DEVOTION! Every day is a different Christian from around the world. After the short video, questions are asked about the scripture and then there is a written devotional on that verse to read as well. (This post is unsponsored.)
Again, I don’t use it every day, but some days in the week, I do! Sometimes, it’s just nice to see and hear someone. It stimulates my thoughts and meditations in a different way.
That’s It! That’s what I wanted to pass on to you!

Thank you Elaine! I feel the same way concerning when I do my time alone with God. Sometimes it is in the morning and sometimes throughout the day. Butch and I also do a devotion and Bible Reading, Prayer Time together every day so it varies with that time considering when he is working so it could be in the morning, in the afternoon when he gets home or later in the evening. Time with God is important but I don’t feel it has to be a set time as long as we have that time for him. Thank you for sending information about the Video information. Have a Great Day!
